Our 2015 and 2016 Mechanic-in-Training programs were funded in part by City Connect Detroit’s Grow Detroit’s Young Talent program.

Eligible youth are encouraged to apply each spring.  The interviewing and hiring process occurs before school gets out in June. The program begins at the start of summer break and runs until school begins again in August. Mechanics in Training work will last about 10-15 hours each week and all youth must work on Fridays and Saturdays.

We are looking for young people who are not only interested in bike mechanics, but also in using the bicycle as a tool to organize, empower, and improve our city.

All applicants must also complete the Grow Detroit’s Young Talent registration process:
