EXTREME HEAT CLOSURES @ BACK ALLEY BIKES

Back Alley Bikes programming is CANCELLED during Extreme Heat Warning

All programs at the BAB Community Workshop including Volunteer Nights and Wrench Learn and Give will be cancelled this week (6/29/26 – 7/3/26) due to extreme heat. We expect to resume normal programming after the 4th of July holiday weekend. Stay safe and cool out there!

4th OF JULY HOLIDAY WEEKEND HOURS

The Hub of Detroit will be open on Thursday and Friday from noon to 6pm but will be CLOSED on Saturday for the 4th of July holiday

Back Alley Bikes will be CLOSED for DIY Open Shop on Sunday July 5th

Have a safe and happy holiday weekend!

REGULAR PROGRAMS

Tuesdays: Wrench Learn and Give

More information coming soon!

Wednesdays and Thursdays: Volunteer Night – 5 PM to 8 PM

Volunteer Nights mostly involve working on tuning up donated bikes for our Kids Bike Giveaways and Garage Sale events, sorting used parts, and cleaning and maintaining the warehouse and workshop spaces.

You do not need mechanic experience to volunteer, we look forward to helping you develop your skills!

Sign up here!

Note: Third Wednesday of each month is reserved for WTF! Night, see the calendar at the bottom of this page for more details

Sundays: DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Open Shop – 12 PM to 5 PM

Does your bike need some love and you want to do the repairs yourself? Stop in during our open shop time! Staff and volunteers can help you learn how to do what needs doing, and we have used parts for sale for those who need them.

We appreciate donations in exchange for use of the space if you’re able. Donation proceeds go to our nonprofit programming. Give what you can, receive what you need!

Space is limited during busy times — first come, first served!

3rd Wednesday of the month: WTF! Night
