Hello everyone,
For some folks a big holiday is occurring this weekend. For others, they are awaiting a long weekend off work. And then some folks will just be living another day. For everyone though I wanted to do a quick update.
This December we have been building up kids bikes (20″ wheels and smaller) to give away. Volunteers have been working for over a month to build up these bikes so they will be suitable for some kids to ride. I have been coordinating with Gardner Elementary School, St. John’s Clinic, The Academy of the Americas, Solomon’s Cathedral and The Guidance Center/Promise Neighborhood Initiative in River Rouge to find the right kids for these bikes.
Despite it being December and cold setting in, we were able to give over 80 bikes away to different groups. I had the privilege of being able to go out to all these organizations to meet with staff and families where the children were able to get on their new bikes! I snapped a few photos and have to go through them and all that, but expect a full report soon!
So even if you aren’t celebrating a holiday this weekend, hopefully the knowledge of more than 80 new bicyclists riding around will warm your heart a little bit. Or if you hate cyclists, hopefully this knowledge ruined your day. We are growing. We are winning!
check back to the website next week for the full report!

Thanks for the report. I am not facebooking anymore, nor have I been volunteering, so having something like this is nice.
How do you get bicycles with the kids ultimately? Little by little? A combo of people picking up @ the shop and delivering to a location on your own?
