Hey ya’ll,
So we have what amounts to a small army of volunteers here at Back Alley Bikes. These folks take on the tough, heavy and often dirty task of sorting through all our donations, organizing and cleaning our warehouse so it is functional for all of our programming.
It may not sound very rewarding, but it is ever so important to what we do here. To get involved with volunteering here, you’ve probably heard about our volunteer orientations on the FIRST Wednesday of each month. That is the best place to get started right?

Well, we are currently looking for more volunteers interested in working with our youth. Besides the lifting, sorting and cleaning tasks, we also need teachers and mentors for our youth. During the school year, Volunteer Youth Instructors teach youth on Saturdays during our Youth Earn-a-Bike and Youth Drop-In programming. Once spring hits we need more Volunteer Youth Instructors to go on bike rides with our Youth Ride Club! Then once school gets out and summer hits, we can use Volunteer Youth Instructors five days a week as our Youth Earn-a-Bike and Youth Drop-In programs expand.

So have an interest in working with our youth? We now have a section of our website that is an online application to be a Volunteer Youth Instructor. If you fill that out we will contact you to schedule an orientation and get you started.

There are additional requirements to work with our youth. Check out our Volunteering page for information about getting a central registry clearance to work with our youth.

Need more youth in your life this summer? Come volunteer with us!
