Hey Everyone,You’ve probably heard about our main program, Youth Earn-a-Bike. We run this program in a few ways. Year round we operate the program more as a Open Shop for youth with a first come first served type of organization. However, when school gets out for the summer we are able to schedule out Youth Earn-a-Bike sessions.
Since we have six stands in our workshop, we can register six youth for three days in a row. Each day is three hours (9am-Noon) worth of work. Provided that the youth put in the work, they will emerge on the third day with a finished bicycle.
In contrast, those that come to the Open Shop time need to get here early to get into an open stand. With only six stands we unfortunately have to turn youth away during this open shop time once we are full. To finish a bike youth have to come back multiple weeks to finish the required nine hours of work to earn a bike.
So if you want to avoid the wait, registration is where it is at! This is especially helpful for folks that have groups of multiple youth. Slots are filling fast. So if you would like to register for a Mid Week Youth Earn-a-Bike session, check out our event calendar to see when the mid week sessions will be occurring and which weeks still have openings.
Give the Back Alley Bikes office a call if you would like to register for an open week.
