Yes, that time is upon us. That time when summer comes to an end for that that have to return to school in September. For those of us that believe in calendars, we get another 20 or so days of summer before fall begins.
Anyway, here at the shop, that means our youth programming (and all programming) begins to scale down. We like to have one final hurrah before the beginning of school though and we call that party the Safe Streets Youth Ride.
The Safe Streets Youth Ride started in 2009 with our Ameri-Corp intern at the time, Angie Karr, creating an event for our youth. At the time we didn’t even have a youth riding program. Since then our youth program has grown to include weekly rides May-August that ends with the Safe Streets Youth Ride.

In our second year having a youth ride club we have seen our rides grow from an average of about 2 youth to seeing a ride in July of 10 youth going all the way to Belle Isle and back to visit the Dossin Great Lakes Museum. We are getting more and more youth on the road riding together in a tight unit.
The Safe Streets Youth Ride is usually our big end of the year party that attracts a larger crowd which is great, but hopefully every summer we’ll see more youth riding weekly with us until we rival the Monday night Slow Rolls (just kidding we don’t need to rival anyone, but wouldn’t it be great to see that many youth riding around?).

So here are the details:
