Hey ya’ll,
So some of you have heard of us talking about an art auction for a while. This is a fund raiser that used to happen around here years ago and disappeared for a bit. We’ve finally pulled it together to bring this back.
We worked it out that our Art Auction will be the same night as Noel Night here in the Cass Corridor.
But first we need artists to donate some art! We are asking for bike themed pieces of any medium or size. It can be bike photography or a sculpture made out of old bike parts! We might even be able to help you out by giving you our busted bike parts to make things with.
Anyway, here is the deal:
Please submit proposals of pieces by October 24th (that is a Thursday!).You can submit those proposals by emailing heather@thehubofdetroit.org. You can also use that email if you have questions, but if you would rather talk to a person instead of using email, give us a call at 313.879.5630.
We are asking artists to donate their pieces to us as this is a benefit for Back Alley Bikes youth programming. Hopefully we can get you some attention with the Noel Night crowd in exchange. If you have a piece which you would like to share some of the proceeds from with us instead of fully donating, give us a call and we’ll talk about it.

Noel Night is a night in our neighborhood with business open, choirs singing, tours happening and special events on every corner. This whole party is put on by the folks over at Midtown Inc.
This year everything is going down on Saturday, December 7th. So while we will be having the art auction going on we will also be having our sprint bikes out, giving tours of our space, a performance by Detroit Hardcore breakdancing and our neighbors Ocelot Printshop will be printing holiday themed cards!
So mark the day on the calendar, but in the meantime – spread word to all the artists and craft makers you know!
