So there are a few folks that need to be thanked. As a way to improve our youth programs and get young people more involved in Detroit bicycling we decided that we were going to take a few of our Mechanic-in-Training students students to the Youth Bike Summit next January in New York City.
At first we were planning on taking maybe two students. But now it is looking like we will be able to take all four of our MIT. This is why we need to thank some folks, because they are helping make our dreams a reality.
This year we have gotten funds from the BUCK Dinner Fund, Hostel Detroit and
everyone of you that went on the last Progressive Dinner by Bicycle Ride. Depending on what deal we can get on transportation it will look like our four youth and two of our instructors will be able to attend the conference in January.
So that is four short months away, but boy are we excited. Next year look for plenty of updates on this site about all the stuff we got to experience and learn. If you are from another bike project working with kids – hopefully we’ll see you in January!
