This Softride has its original parts- including a branded bag! All components are Shimano 600 S Ultegra, they are in good working order, and aside from basic cosmetic maintenance (chain, tires, handlebar tape) this bike is in perfect working order.
The softride was a 90s era type of bike known as a “beam” bike which relied upon a carbon fiber bean extending from the top tube and which did not include a seat tube. The carbon fiber beam absorbs bumps and vibrations from the road, preventing their transference to the saddle. Thus the name “softride” these bikes were discontinued because though they had been gaining popularity among time trial and triathlon bikers, it was determined they gave an unfair advantage- one you can now use in your daily bike ride!
