Hey everyone,
I’m here to introduce you to a whole new world. That world is the new and improved Hub of Detroit. I got plenty of pictures which you love. I’m also saying goodbye to updates on The Hub. What that means is that I (Jason) will only be updating you on Back Alley Bikes doings while The Hub will have James dedicated to updating you on the doings of the retail shop. This means more news since one person doesn’t have to be divided between two spaces. So while you’ve grown to love our website, you now have more of a reason to come visit.
But enough with that administration stuff, lets get to some pictures!

If you have visited The Hub of Detroit, you may notice that there is more room inside of the shop. Not only room for more bikes to sell, but also room for more people. So we know that you love meeting up with others in our shop, but meeting up with someone doesn’t have to mean rubbing shoulders uncomfortably anymore. Come in and peruse!

So you will recognize this counter from our last upgrade. We moved it backward for more space in the shop. There is also a division between ‘sales’ and ‘labor’. The picture above is of the ‘sales’ section. Here you can get those new lights for your bike, a lock, or pay to pick up your repair. Notice the price list on the chalkboard and the new parts hanging up on the back wall.

On the other end of the counter you can talk to a service representative to get that repair on your bike written up and taken care of.

Like usual, some repairs can be taken care of same day while larger repairs like overhauls will take longer with a scheduled pick up date. To help accommodate that, two new work stations were built. Check out the “same day” room:

There isn’t a picture of the other workroom, but trust us that it is pretty awesome and so many bikes are going to get repaired in there.
Of course you might need to get some air or just need a wrench to tighten a bolt. So you can have your own little more room off to the side that looks like this:

Back into the main room, there is a new improved retail menu above the counter:

And last, but certainly not least, we have our memorial to Woody Miller hanging up in the shop. Woody used to be a board member of Back Alley Bikes as well as a cycling and Detroit advocate. I know that sounds really general, but for those of us that knew him it sums it up. He did a lot and is really swell.

So come on down to the Hub of Detroit for all your bicycle shopping needs! We expanded because ya’ll have been so good to support us. We are excited for you to see the great service you’ve come to expect become even better.
And as always, 100% of used bicycle and part purchases support Back Alley Bikes programming.
