What do the three things in the title of this post have in common?  Back Alley Bikes!  Let me tell you about them:

1) Bikes
Hopefully I don’t have to explain to you how bikes relate to to Back Alley Bikes then you should probably take a longer look around this website.  However, we received a notable donation of around 200 bicycles this past weekend from two Eagle Scouts: Eli Jensen and Brandon Reuter.  This brings us to over 1,000 bikes donated this year.
So this was a big week for bikes.  If you volunteer with us, we’ll be processing those new donations tonight.  If you are an Eagle Scout named Eli Jensen or Brandon Reuter – thanks for the help!

2) Libraries
Well really one library in particular – The Detroit Public Library.  Over at the Teen HYPE Center at the Main Branch, they have started offering ‘makerspace’ type programs.  Since the summer, we have been collaborating with the main library to offer the ‘Bike Tech‘ program.
So if you are a teenager and have Tuesday afternoons open.  Head on over to the DPL main branch at 5201 Woodward Avenue, Detroit on Tuesdays from 4-6pm (through Dec 15).
We’re really excited to be partnering with the Teen HYPE Center and hopefully we’ll see this program extend into 2013.

3) Rock n’ Roll
So you know about the benefit show tomorrow right?  Because if you don’t…I guess you do now.  We are having a benefit concert for Back Alley Bikes.  We will have bands playing right in Back Alley Bikes.  We’ve done this a few times before to great success.  So here is to tomorrow going great as well!

4) Dates and Times
So you’ll notice I dated this news entry so people will know how new or old it is when they read it.  Knowing what day it is can be important.  So you should purchase the 2013 Back Alley Bikes Calendar from us.  $15 goes to support BAB and you get a calendar!  Totally a win-win situation!

Buy one and the creepy look on my face will stop haunting you

See ya’ll soon!
